Does Hinge notify screenshots?

Updated 26 October 2026 · 4 min read · By the Fond team

No, Hinge doesn’t notify the other person when you screenshot their profile or your chat. Its help centre describes no screenshot alert, and recent independent reporting finds none (checked 26 October 2026). In some regions, including India, Hinge now blocks screenshots of other people’s profiles instead, but chats you’re part of can still be captured.

Does Hinge tell someone when you take a screenshot?

No. Nothing in Hinge’s help centre describes a screenshot alert for profiles, photos, prompts or chats. Independent guides from SlashGear in April 2025 and EaseUS, updated in October 2026, both say the other person isn’t told. EaseUS says screen recordings don’t trigger an alert either.

It’s a fair thing to wonder about if you also use Snapchat, which marks screenshots with an icon in the chat. Hinge’s help centre describes nothing like it.

Screenshots are also part of how Hinge support works. Its help centre has a guide on how to take a screenshot or screen recording on iPhone for when its team needs to see what’s happening in the app.

Where does Hinge block screenshots?

As of 26 October 2026, Hinge’s help centre says that in select regions it blocks screenshots and screen recordings of pages that show another dater’s profile or photo:

  • Discover
  • Standouts
  • Likes You
  • other daters’ profiles

If you try, the page goes dark and a short message explains why. You can still capture chats you’re part of, so you can report anything that makes you uncomfortable. You can also capture your own profile.

Hinge announced the feature for India on 28 September 2026, saying it blocks screenshots there “on surfaces containing personal identifiable information”. Its help centre doesn’t list which regions are covered. If profile screenshots still work for you, the feature isn’t switched on where you are, at least for now.

Does Tinder notify screenshots?

We couldn’t find any screenshot alert in Tinder’s help centre. What Tinder does describe is screenshot and screen recording protection. In select regions, screenshots and screen recordings of profiles are blocked automatically. On Android the block is complete. On iPhone it applies while profiles are on screen. Tinder’s page also notes that no technology can fully stop someone capturing a profile, for example with a second device.

Does Bumble notify screenshots?

We couldn’t find a Bumble help article about screenshot alerts or screenshot blocking as of 26 October 2026. Bumble’s community guidelines are clear on one thing, though. Obtaining, sharing or threatening to share sexual images, or screenshots of sexual conversations, without consent counts as sexual harassment. Bumble says it may act on your account even when that happens off the app.

Is it okay to screenshot a match?

Screenshotting for yourself is common, and often sensible. Australia’s eSafety Commissioner suggests screenshotting a person’s profile and your messages before you meet. If something goes wrong, you can still report them, even if they’ve unmatched or blocked you.

A few kind rules help:

  1. Screenshot for a reason. Safety, and remembering what someone told you, are both good reasons.
  2. Keep it to yourself. Asking one close friend for advice is normal. Posting someone’s profile or messages for laughs isn’t.
  3. Crop before you share. If you do show a friend, crop out their photos and name.
  4. Never share intimate images. Sharing or threatening to share someone’s intimate image without consent is image-based abuse, which eSafety notes is illegal.
  5. Respect a blocked screen. If a page goes dark, the app is protecting someone’s privacy. Leave it there.

Take Ava. She screenshots Tom’s profile before their first coffee, as eSafety suggests, and a few lines of their chat where he mentions his sister’s wedding next month. She shows her best friend the profile, cropped. The chat screenshot is for her, so she can ask how the wedding went.

What should you do with screenshots afterwards?

Dating screenshots pile up in your camera roll, between holiday photos and pictures of your dog. A simple routine keeps them under control:

  1. Sort as you go. Is this screenshot for safety, or for remembering?
  2. Keep safety screenshots until you’re sure you won’t need to report anything. Put them in your iPhone’s Hidden collection, which is locked with Face ID by default.
  3. Turn memory screenshots into a note. Write down what matters, such as the wedding date or the new puppy’s name, then delete the screenshot. Our guide to remembering what they tell you covers what’s worth keeping.
  4. Empty Recently Deleted. Deleted photos stay there for 30 days unless you remove them sooner.

Where Fond fits

Fond is an iPhone app for the screenshots you take to remember someone. Share a chat or profile screenshot to Fond, or pick one inside the app. Fond reads it on your iPhone, works out who said what, and adds the details to a private note about that person, with every fact linked to the screenshot it came from. There’s no account and no server, notes are locked with Face ID, and we never see your chats. Get Fond on the App Store.
